ABSTRACT
This article discusses the development of a community-based eco-friendly tourism village in Sangkuliman, Kota Bangun District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. Using a community-based tourism (CBT) approach, it explores how local residents build sustainable tourism practices through the management of the Pokdarwis BMT (Bertata Menata Tertata), homestay programs, digital promotion, and participatory financial management. The findings reveal that community-based tourism in Sangkuliman not only enhances economic welfare but also strengthens cultural identity and environmental conservation. This study contributes to the literature on sustainable tourism by highlighting localized practices that can be replicated in other tourist destinations across Indonesia.
